國民黨黨內總統初選提名陷入膠著，馬英九總統上午與媒體茶敘時坦言「未來的事情，我無法預測」；他強調，希望黨中央推出來的總統候選人，是個有競爭力的，「這是我身為一個黨員最高的期待」。

媒體問及提名是否改採徵召？是否加入國民黨徵召委員會？馬先是直覺回應「我不會（加入）」，隨後又趕緊改口表示，未來的事情他不敢預測。

他舉例，像地方政府公共工程招標時，都希望績優廠商來領表，「因為他不來，可能產生的候選人就不是競爭力最強的」；至於媒體追問朱立倫是否為「績優廠商」？馬英九沒有多做回答。

他說，一開始是希望黨內有競爭力的人士，能夠出來參加初選，「當然這只是我的一個期待，我也沒有任何權力來支配他們採取這樣的作為。」

媒體問及是否反對立法院長王金平參選，馬則說，他沒有要支持者去卡王，也從來沒有去做這個事情。
